The Union government has reduced the price of 14 kg LPG gas cylinders by Rs 200. Union Minister Anurag Thakur made the announcement during a briefing on Tuesday. He also said that the government will provide 75 lakh new LPG connections for free under Ujjwala scheme.
"PM Modi has decided Rs 200 reduction in the price of domestic LPG cylinders, for all users...this is a gift from PM Narendra Modi, to the women of the country, during the occasion of Raksha Bandhan", he said.
"Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana' beneficiaries are already getting Rs 200 subsidy...but they will also be benefitted from the decrease in the rate, that means the rate reduction for the 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana' beneficiaries will be Rs 400 per cylinder..." he added.Earlier, the prices of LPG cylinders were increased twice in May. The oil companies increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 50 in July.
